Phyathai Hospital Group moves forward with major initiative focused on developing its hospital network
The Bangkok-based Phyathai Hospital Group, known as PYT, is exploring a reorganization of their main facilities that would foster major improvements in their ability to provide high-quality health care. In January, a four-member team from HMI joined HMI’s partners in Thailand for a site visit focused on facilities development, equipment planning, and nursing professional development. |

Harvard Medical School Dubai Center breaks ground on state-of-the-art educational facility
The Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) has broken ground on a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as its permanent home. The new building, scheduled for completion by the end of 2007, will be the center of HMSDC’s efforts to make Dubai a center of excellence for postgraduate medical education and life sciences research. The 350,000 square feet facility, located at the heart of Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), will include a 300-seat auditorium, innovative teaching space including three 80-seat case method rooms, and a simulation center utilizing leading-edge technology. |

Health care leaders in India convene for leadership and faculty development workshops
In February, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMCRI) welcomed HMI faculty for a pair of programs aimed at enhancing clinical education and health care leadership. This year HMI and SRMCRI expanded the focus of the workshops to include a wider range of institutional and regional professionals in health care and academic medicine. About 90 participants, holding a variety of health care management roles throughout India, attended the two programs in Chennai. |
