Welcome
Around Harvard
A developing story
Welcome to the January-February 2008 issue of HMI WORLD.
In this edition of HMI WORLD we are pleased to bring you the exciting news that Dubai Healthcare City will launch a world-class tertiary care teaching hospital. This story has been developing for several months, as faculty from HMI, health care leaders in Dubai, a team of architects from a top firm, and clinical and administrative experts from throughout the Harvard medical community have worked together to design every component of the University Hospital. Longtime readers of this site are well aware of the wide range of activities involving HMI and our colleagues in Dubai. This partnership, begun in 2003, has touched on every corner of health care systems and education infrastructure development, from regulatory development and systems planning, to quality management infrastructure development, to a wide range of continuing medical education programs—and much more. As this new hospital takes shape, we hope that it will become the lynchpin of a vital academic medical community in the Gulf Region. I hope that you will continue to visit HMI WORLD to follow these developments as they occur.
One other reminder: we have launched the HMI Blog in order to bring you more news, more information, more often. You’ll see the icon for the HMI Blog on the left side of our front page – just click and go, and feel free to leave comments and take part in the discussion.
