Science meets tradition: Multinational teams of investigators put alternative medicine to the test
Scientists in the East and West are joining forces in an effort to create an evidence base for traditional medicine (TM) and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). These investigators are using rigorous scientific methods to test ancient practices such as meditation, acupuncture, and herbal supplements, in the hopes of one day discovering which techniques work, how they work, and how to best incorporate them into modern biomedicine.
