October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Since the early 1990s the rate of breast cancer deaths has been dropping due to earlier detection and advances in treatment. Yet breast cancer is still the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women (behind lung cancer).
Hester Hill Schnipper, a licensed oncology social worker at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, is writing about breast cancer on a new blog called Living with Breast Cancer. Hester is not only a professional clinician — she’s also a two-time breast cancer survivor. She writes wonderfully about the challenges facing breast cancer patients and their health care providers. Longtime readers of HMI World might remember that Hester was part of an HMI team that worked with Acibadem Healthcare Group on the development of a multidisciplinary oncology center in Istanbul.

Must be a wonderful lady to share publicly her experiences so others would not feel alone in their pain.
